Xbox XP's First Task Should Be the Halo Movie We Never Got
Microsoft has just announced Xbox XP, a new division aimed at getting cool experiences – be they movies, TV shows, theme park attractions, etc. – made out of its many intellectual properties. And that's how Microsoft can erase the memory of the TV show you probably already forgot anyway. No, I'm not suggesting that they necessarily dust off Garland's 20-year-old script (unless it's awesome, then by all means, do it!), but by turning Halo into the movie we deserve but never got.

This Fanatical Deal Drops Marathon on PC to $19.39, Cheaper Than Steam's Autumn Sale
Steam launched its Autumn Sale last week, and the PC-inclined know these seasonal sales are pretty much the best time of year to buy games. Sometimes, though, the gaming giant isn't offering the best possible price. On Steam, Bungie’s latest live action release, Marathon, has dropped to $23.99. However, digital game stores like Fanatical and GMG are also running fall sales, and it just so happens that the former has Marathon Steam codes for even cheaper, at $19.99. According to price trackers, that’s a lower price than the game has ever been on the U.S. side of Steam. Regardless of your feelings about the hardcore extraction shooter, it’s hard to argue with that being a good deal. Marathon on PC Drops Under $20 at FanaticalFanatical is a UK-based e-commerce platform under the Fandom umbrella. It’s one of our go-to storefronts for digital game deals, so you can rest assured you’re paying for something legit. And yes, it’s a Steam code, not some wacky third-party launcher situation. As for Marathon itself, well, the game’s been through a lot. The first couple of trailers picked up some buzz on social media, but a troubled alpha test and plagiarism allegations led to some delays. A little thing called Arc Raiders launched during that delay, creating even more competition in the multiplayer shooter space. Still, Marathon reworked some assets, and Bungie launched the game this past March. While Marathon has faced challenges building a massive player base, the fans it does have are particularly dedicated. That dedication is likely owing to the shooter’s emphasis on hardcore gameplay and community, though the developers have recently outlined their plans to make the game more accessible with future updates, like a PVE mode. I’ve put my fair share of time into the game and can attest to the difficulty allegations. There’s something addicting about that learning curve, though, especially with the loot and progression systems. At the end of the day, you get fresh Bungie gunplay in a disgustingly stylish world. I think IGN’s Travis Northup said it best in his 9/10 review: “Marathon is unapproachable, unforgiving, offputtingly creepy, and has a playerbase of violent goblins who exist solely to bash your face in with a brick, and for all of these reasons it's become my favorite extraction shooter of all time.”There Are a Ridiculous Amount of Gaming Deals Right Now For whatever reason, we’re in prime deals season right now. Aside from Steam, Fanatical, and GMG, Amazon has a whole Prime Day sale going on right now, which obviously prompted competing sales from Best Buy and Walmart. We’ve been rounding up all of the best gaming deals, but it’s worth clicking around for anything on your wishlist.

Some of Our Favorite Switch 2 Controllers Are Dropping to Actually Reasonable Prices for October Prime Day
Amazon’s October Prime sale has reached its final day, and there’s been a surprising amount of treats for Nintendo fans. Unfortunately, what we haven't seen any discounts on is Nintendo’s officially licensed Joy Con and Pro controller. However, if you’re trying to get your hands on a new Switch 2 controller sooner rather than later, we’re seeing solid deals on some of our favorite third-party options. Besides being more colorful, these controllers come in various shapes and sizes, potentially offering an even better fit for your hands than Nintendo's own peripherals. Switch 2 Controllers on Sale for October Prime DayNote: Most of these deals are exclusive to Prime members (you can sign up for that here) and end tonight. A strange theme across the sale is unique editions hitting lower prices than base models. Those editions add up to a solid spread of options that have dropped under $30. Turtle Beach released its first wireless controller for Switch 2 back in and has been unloading its franchise tie-ins on the market ever since. While there’s a slight discount on the original black model, the best possible deals are on the more colorful Mario editions. Of course, if you’re looking for some RGB, look no further than the PDP Afterglow. We’re seeing a similar trend with another one of our top picks, PowerA's Advantage controller. Right now, the Pokemon Mega Evolutions colorway is almost $10 cheaper than the standard black wireless model. If you are into the sleeker black style, you’re looking at some more expensive but also more premium options. The main one is 8BitDo’s Ultimate 2 controller. Amazon’s deal is on the upgraded second generation edition, but we got the chance to review the original launch model, saying its “grip feels almost identical to that on modern Xbox controllers. The bumpers and the analog triggers also feel much better than the Pro 2's, which felt a bit mushy and cheap.”For the closest match to Nintendo’s own Pro controller, I’d recommend NYXI’s Hyperion 3. This is a fully dedicated Switch 2 controller, meaning it takes advantage of new features like the upgraded Rumble effect with things like adjustable vibration and dual back buttons. Last but not least, leaning a little bit further into the third-party of it all, we’re seeing a $10 price cut on Kuitmor’s Sanrio controller. Yes, I included this because it's Hello Kitty and adorable, but it also has some solid reviews. Prime Big Deals Day End TonightToday is the last chance for Prime members to grab deals in Amazon’s October sale. While we haven’t seen any fresh discounts on the full Switch 2 console, there are plenty more Nintendo deals in the mix, including Switch 2 games.

Today Only: Save Over 50% Off a 2TB Internal SSD for Steam Deck or ROG Ally
You’ve probably noticed that storage prices have surged this year. Today only, in Best Buy’s Deal of the Day, you can save over 50% off a beefy 2TB internal SSD PCIe Gen 4 x4 M.2 2230 for gaming handhelds, including Steam Deck and ROG Ally. It’s still not cheap at $259.99 (see it at Best Buy), but it’s a heck of a lot cheaper than the $531.99 MSRP it normally costs nowadays. Grab it before the deal ends.WD - BLACK SN770M 2TB Internal SSD for $259.99I’m a huge fan of the Steam Deck and handheld gaming PCs in general. You simply can’t beat the convenience of playing nearly your entire Steam library basically anywhere in the world. Just the other day I took my kid to soccer practice, and I played Max Payne 3 on my Steam Deck while I waited. It’s a glorious thing, being untethered. The problem lately is the cost of extra storage. MicroSD cards and SSDs have both shot up in price recently, thanks to AI companies vacuuming up the world’s stock for use in data centers no one wants built near them. Best Buy is offering 2TB of speedy internal storage for Steam Deck and ROG Ally for just $259.99. In the year 2026, that’s a killer deal. The only catch is you have to engage in some DIY tinkering to perform the upgrade. You’ll need to crack open your device, remove the old one, install the new one, and recover or re-image the OS. It’s not rocket science, but it’s not as easy as sliding in a new microSD card, either. If you have a Steam Deck, you can check out Ifixit’s upgrade guide here. ROG Ally owners can find instructions from the Republic of Gamers itself here.If you’re not up for the installation and you have a Prime membership, you can get a 2TB microSD card from Lexar for the same price at Amazon (also today only, thanks to Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days sale). If you can make do with less storage, you can get the 512GB version for $67.99 or the 1TB for $127.49. It’s not quite as convenient as having a single storage device on your Steam Deck or ROG Ally, but it’s a lot easier to install.
