Avatar: Seven Havens Premieres This Week — Here's When You Can Watch New Episodes
Avatar: Seven Havens premieres this week, introducing us to the first new Avatar in over 10 years. Original creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko returned for the 2D series, which follows a new Avatar, Pavi, over 200 years after The Legend of Korra. That’s around 300 years after the events of The Last Airbender. Seven Havens will be streaming exclusively on Paramount+, now under the Skydance banner. The full series is slated for 26 half-hour episodes, just like the good ol’ days. However, those episodes will be split into two “Books,” the Avatar version of seasons. Avatar: Seven Havens Book 1 Premieres This WeekThe first three episodes of Book 1 will premiere on October 9. Subsequent episodes will be released in batches every Friday, so all 13 episodes of the Seven Havens will be streaming by the end of October. Here’s how that all looks in list form: Avatar: Seven Havens Episode Release ScheduleChapter 1: “On the Horizon” - October 9Chapter 2: “Into the Storm” - October 9Chapter 3: “The Order” - October 9 Chapter 4: The Faceless” - October 16Chapter 5: “The One Left Behind” - October 16Chapter 6: “The Night of the Inflicted” - October 16Chapter 7: “What Lies Beneath” - October 23Chapter 8: “The Envoys, Part 1” - October 23Chapter 9: “The Envoys, Part 2” - October 23Chapter 10: “Ghosts and Spirits” - October 30Chapter 11: “Battle of the Ruins” - October 30Chapter 12: “The Dome” - October 30Chapter 13: “The Root Chakra” - October 30As mentioned, the series will be streaming exclusively on Paramount+. Previous Avatar shows have eventually been released on DVD and Blu-ray, but that seems less likely for Seven Havens in the current Paramount era. Episode titles were originally reported by Polygon, alongside promotional art for each batch: As for what to expect from the show, Seven Havens follows the usual Avatar tradition by picking up with, well, a new Avatar. The star of the new animated series is a young earthbender named Pavi. Korra picked up less than a century after The Last Airbender, entering an era of industrialization in an otherwise recognizable version of the Four Nations. Seven Havens, in contrast, jumps over 200 years into the future. Early trailers show an entirely distinct post-apocalyptic world that generally despises the notion of the Avatar. Given the amount of time that’s passed, it’s possible something happened to the Avatar Cycle to cause a delay in its continuation after Korra’s passing. Otherwise, Korra may have hit a Kyoshi-level lifespan.Either way, it seems like some real crazy stuff went down after Korra and Asami walked into the sunset. Paramount, which has completed its acquisition of Warner Bros., has been rebuilding the Avatar franchise over the past couple of years. Most recently, Paramount dropped Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, a new animated movie featuring the original Gaang all grown up. That was notoriously leaked online in protest of Paramount’s refusal to give it a theatrical release, but we were fans of the movie nonetheless. Otherwise, while Seven Havens has already been greenlit for 26 episodes, there’s no word on when we’ll actually see Book 2. We’ll likely hear more about the series’ future as well as other projects like the Avatar fighting game at NYCC this weekend. ICYMI: Reebok just announced a new line of sneakers inspired by the original ATLA series.
